Welcome to Year 6- Purple Class, where the ‘Power of Positivity’ guides us to achieve our goals. Resilience, determination and optimism are just some of the values we are going to try to show in order to be successful this year. We all play an important part of the ‘Purple team’ and will support each other as much as we can, even when the going gets tough.
The adults in the team are Miss Burton (Class Teacher) and Mrs Harland (Teaching assistant).
2019-2020 is going to be an exciting year full of new learning opportunities and challenges and of course, lots of fun.
Year 6 have some extremely interesting topics this term, including: Brainwaves, AD 900 and The Holiday Show. Each will involve of a range of tasks to develop our knowledge and understanding within the topic.
Swimming lessons will take place each Wednesday, so make sure you are always organised. We will have another P.E. lesson each Friday, so P.E. kits must be available on this day.
Homework is important in Year 6, as we are beginning to prepare for our journeys into secondary school. Tasks will be set each Friday and should be handed in on the following Wednesday. In addition to this, you should be reading every night and should be regularly practising spellings and times tables.
We will be setting up a year 6 enterprise soon, to raise money for our own trips, including our final ‘end of year 6 trip’ in July. Start thinking of names and fundraising ideas so we can get the ball rolling and can organise some fun-filled trips.
What a brilliant year this is going to be!
…You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great!
