Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, or ‘Hogmanay’ as I would more habitually say!
Within literacy, we have a very exciting half term ahead. Within the first two weeks, we will be exploring, reading, writing and performing free verse poetry. We will be learning through a range of stimuli such as drama, to help us to write and perform an imaginative free verse poem!
In the weeks following, we will be reading the book ‘Naughty Bus’, where the children will be working towards re-writing the story and creating their own characters.
Within maths the children will continue to look at number work, including counting across 100 as well as securing addition and subtraction where the children will work with numbers up to 20. We will also be looking at the place value of number.
Science/ D.T./ Homework
The children will be exploring different materials where they will learn to distinguish between an object and the material from which it is made. The children will identify and name a variety of everyday materials, including wood, plastic, glass, water and rock as well as describing the simple physical properties of a variety of everyday materials. Finally, the children will compare and group together a variety of everyday materials on the basis of their physical properties.
The children will have a science / D.T. homework task this half term and a letter will be sent home about this w/b 15.01.18.
Thank you for your on-going co-operation!
